MISSION AND PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Hudsonville Public Schools' Counseling Program provides a quality, developmental, comprehensive couseling program as an integral part of the education process. All students will acquire skils in the following areas:

Personal/Social Development
Academic Development
Career Development

Our goal is to focus on the needs of all students. Individual counseling, small groups, large groups, consultation and coordination are a few ways in which our program will reach your particular student.

JODY VAN ZALEN

Counselor A-K

Mrs. VanZalen received her MA in Counseling from WMU. Her undergraduate degree is from GVSU, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Prior to Counseling, she worked as a high school foreign language teacher.

McKinney-Vento Liaison

Mr. Arnoys recieved his undergraduate degree from Hope College and his MA in School Counseling from WMU. Prior to coming to HPS as a counselor, he taught Middle School Social Studies, provided Sales/Marketing support for a small business, and worked as a therapist for Catholic Charities W. Michigan.

Mr. Arnoys has two kids and a wife who is also an educator. He loves to travel, golf, and root on the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, WMU Broncos, and UM Wolverines.

JAN BOWERMAN

Counseling & McKinney-Vento Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Bowerman has worked for HPS for 11 years. She and her husband, Steve have 5 sons, all who attended and graduated from the Hudsonville Public Schools.

Mrs. Bowerman loves all things Disney and Christmas!
